Environmental Policy
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
At the Best Western Watermill Hotel we recognise we have an obligation, and it is our policy to carry out all reasonable practical measures to improve our environmental performance. We are very pleased to be awarded Bronze by The Green Business Scheme www.green-business.co.uk .
We have conducted our own audit and have implemented the following improvements to our business:
- Housekeeping cleaning products, we purchase larger containers to decant in to the spray bottles, reusing all the time, to reduce plastics going in to landfill .
- Food / General Waste is compacted to reduce refuse collections.
- Low energy bulbs are fitted where ever possible.
- External lighting is controlled by timers or dusk to dawn sensors, and use low energy bulbs.
- A Bed linen and Towel policy is in place.
- Televisions are switched off and not left in stand by mode.
- Waste cooking oil is recycled.
- Lighting during day light hours are switched off where possible.
- When purchasing new equipment we endeavour to purchase only A rated appliances.
- We recycle old computer equipment, Linen, Beds and Furniture to local charities.
- Recycle ink cartridges.
- Toilets are fitted with low flush buttons where possible .
- Heating is controlled by individual thermostats on radiators and internal and external temperature sensors.
- Staff and individual departments are given individual responsibilities and training to achieve our aims.
- When undertaking building works better insulation has been incorporated in ceiling and roof works.
- Printing and stationery, where possible printing is printed on recycled paper and we purchase recycled stationary.
- General Paper products where possible are purchased using recycled paper.
We recognise there is always more we can do and this list is constantly being up dated , and following on from our gradating by The Green Business Scheme we will continue to improve
